Sonic CD Developer Diary

With the imminent release of the new and improved version of Sonic CD, we're treated to a rather unique dev diary. Sonic Team art director Kazuyuki Hoshino goes over some of the old sketches and art assets used for Sonic CD, and explains how some of them came about. Even through a monotone translator, being able to see some behind the scenes for a classic game like Sonic CD is surprisingly exciting. I'd love to see more developers do this, even if they aren't doing a remake of the game. Ooh, I want a dev diary for Super Metroid now. That would be awesome.

Grab a beer and check out this Trenched dev diary

Well, don't get a Budweiser like the fellows over at Double Fine did. I mean, I'm not snobby beer connoisseur or anything like that, but Budweiser? Yuck. Beer choices aside, if your interested in Double Fine's latest, a third-person mech-war style tower defense game, then check the dev diary after the break to hear some developer discussion about Trenched, along with some in-game footage.

RIFT dev diary highlights PvP

An integral part of MMO's nowadays is how the PvP is handled. When its done right it can add quite a bit to the game. Blizzard even made an e-sport out of the arena system they implemented in WoW. The devs over at Trion Worlds explain the different mechanics of their PvP and why PvP is handled uniquely in RIFT. From the sounds of it they will focus more on open world PvP, which is something WoW has been lacking since the inclusion of battlegrounds. Check the video after the break for all the details.

Dragon Age 2 dev diary gets into the storyline

Unarguably storyline in their games is one of Bioware's biggest strengths, and Dragon Age 2 looks to continue that tradition. While Dragon Age Origins was successful enough, Bioware is approaching Dragon Age 2 from a whole new perspective. Just seeing the personality of the new characters you'll be playing alongside Dragon Age 2 makes me anticipate this game that much more. Do yourself a favor and check out the video after the break to learn some details about the characters and storyline in Dragon Age 2. Oh, and the obligatory hot babe that will try to rape you.

Brink dev diary discusses the blending of genres

This latest dev diary for the promising looking Brink goes over how the devs blended FPS gameplay with action and storytelling. Also meshed together is the single player, multiplayer, offline and online modes to create an open cohesive world. This all sounds well and good but for the life of me I can't help but be bothered by the ugly character models. More specifically the heads just look really ugly. I know it's a stylized look and not meant to look exactly proportionate or anything, but it still bothers me. In any case, check the video after the break.
